Laguna Gloria is a complement of pastoral refuge and urban energy. A legendary landmark, AMOA–Laguna Gloria is one of the city’s most beloved sites. The villa is open daily 11–4. The grounds are open Monday–Saturday 9–5 and Sunday 11–5. Admission is a suggested donation of $3.

In 1892, renowned European sculptress Elisabet Ney (1833-1907) built a studio in Austin’s Hyde Park neighborhood, where she resumed her career as a portrait sculptor. The studio is today the Elisabet Ney Museum, a National Historic Landmark and National Trust Associate Site. Many of Ney’s portraits from life, including Jacob Grimm, Arthur Schopenhauer, Otto von Bismarck, and King Ludwig II of Bavaria, are displayed together with legendary Texas statesmen and heroes. Open Wednesday–Saturday 10–5 and Sunday 12–5. Admission is free.

The George Washington Carver Museum & Cultural Center has the distinction of being the first African-American neighborhood museum in the state of Texas. The Carver Museum collects, preserves, and exhibits artifacts documenting the history of African-Americans from Austin, Central Texas, and beyond. It promotes a climate in which African-American artists can be recognized and appreciated for their culturally diverse heritage. Open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 9:30–6, Tuesday and Thursday 9:30–8, and Saturday 1–5. Admission is free.

The Harry Ransom Center houses one of the world’s finest cultural archives with over 45 million items, including extensive collections of rare books, manuscripts, photography, film, art, and the performing arts. The Ransom Center Galleries offer diverse exhibitions from the Center’s holdings as well as a permanent display of the Gutenberg Bible and the First Photograph. The Ransom Center Galleries are open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 10–5, Thursday 10–7, and Saturday and Sunday 12–5. Admission is free.

TheCity of Austin's Julia C. Butridge Gallery strives to preserve and enrich the cultural life of the city by nurturing and supporting excellence in the visual arts and by providing opportunities for every individual to experience the arts. The gallery features 1,800 square feet of space available to Austin area artists and arts organizations for exhibitions in all media and subject matter. Rather than collecting a commission from works sold, the Julia C. Butridge Gallery offers artists a flat rental fee for exhibition space.
Monday–Thursday 9 A.M.–9:30 P.M., Friday 9:00 A.M.–5:30 P.M., Saturday 10:00 A.M.–2:00 P.M. Closed Sunday.

Since 1958 this non-profit organization has been providing a cultural atmosphere on the banks of Johnson Creek and the Guadalupe River. The Duncan McAshan Visual Art Center includes an art gallery featuring national and regional artists, a fine art gift shop, studios, and an art library.
